In other words, this will never happen. Much ado about nothing, which is just as well, because the original idea is dumb.

This article is dated 1/26/2014. Did the website forget to change dates for the new year, or is the OP dredging up old news?

Well, idea of legalizing gay-marriages was stupid too, but as we can see...

Actually, this is an idea that liberals have proposed on some level: "the state needs to stay out of marrige if it isn't gonna recognize gay marriage" or "we all should only have 'Civil Unions".

Yeah, they don't take their ball and go home either...they want to piss on the whole game.

Some of us sane people without titles like liberal or conservative want the state out of marriage too.

Do you really think that you should need permission from the state to partake in the holy sacrament of marriage? I say leave it up to the Church's, the rest is simply contract law.

If corporations are people then we can define people as corporations.

We'll no longer have marriages at all, just mergers.
We'll no longer have murder, just hostile takeovers.
We'll no longer have child support, just have legacy costs.

And no more one night stands... just pump and dump.

Far too many stupid and unlikely things become law to just ignore this kind of proposal. One state (I forget which, probably Florida) actually passed a law that made sex illegal in any place visible from public property - which technically includes the vast majority of houses.

Yep. It's truly insane when one can find a reasonably mainstream Christian church willing to sanction gay marriage but the state bars it. In general, before compromising individual liberty government at any level should be required to show a compelling societal need that can only be met with that particular infringement. "Eew" is not sufficient.
