btw it costs tax dollars because it's being conducted by people who are working during hours and their salary is from tax dollars. Just saying.

You know if you tried to pull this silence shit in a school that isn't public, you'd get sent to the principal's office and suspended first thing. If you tried to pull this off in China or India, say goodbye to one of your fingers . What students get away with in US Public schools these days is outrageous.

Look, the ignorant child continues to post.

Anyone can have preventative health care if they so choose to purchase preventative health care. No one is preventing people from buying health care.

lol...you're crazy. When I was younger, ~23-24. I worked two part time jobs, neither one provided health care for me. I looked into public options, and found out I didn't qualify for those either. Then I looked into private health insurance, I qualified...for roughly ~$700/month. At that point in my life, I made roughly $1400 after taxes, and had about $800 in bills. My point is that just because it's available, doesn't mean it's available..

I'm sorry but what party is "fiscal conservatives" in?

qqxsgFiscalConservative(2).jpg

A fiscal conservative is about minimizing government, lowering taxes AND spending.

Despite your simplistically misleading chart, Clinton did none of the above. He simply had the good fortune to come into office on the start of a long growth cycle with record revenues... and many would argue that growth cycle was the product of the two former president's policies...

But yes, NONE of our recent presidents have been true fiscal conservatives. And the reason why is the rightwing pandering to the Religious Right and their hot button social fascism issues.

Amazing.

And yet, for a hundred or so dollars, you could have paid a doctor out of pocket for a full checkup once a year. And then (gasp) followed his advice on how to remain healthy.

That would be the definition of "preventitive health care."

How about we all just come to an agreement that all groups, left, right, center, pro/anti gay/abortion/earth day or whatever cause you care to name keep these arguments out of the school system other than discussing them in current events classes? No gay days of silence, no parents not sending their kids to school in response to a gay day of silence, just 180 days of learning math, science, English, history etc. and not using school children as fronts to push causes and ideologies.

Yup.. good luck with that, though. All of the parents who want to push a cause, ideology, or agenda are the same ones who vote and ultimately decide these things.

Again, if you had 1400 after taxes, then you CAN afford health insurance. Just reduce your bills. Rent too high? Get a roommate or two. Spending too much on food? Make do with rice and beans. Health insurance, like anything else, is a product. You pay for products, they aren't given to you for free.

Again, going back to the topic at hand, this gay day of silence should not be tolerated. If you want to have your time of silence, do it after school, not during school. School is a place to learn. You listen when the teacher tells you to listen. You speak when the teacher tells you to speak. If you do otherwise, you should be kicked out and never allowed to return to the public school system.

A survey conducted by the group in 2007 found that 86 percent of homosexual students reported being harassed at school
frankly i'm surprised they found any high school students who hadn't been harassed at school.

That is fine and their right. Amused is both right and wrong in his post in my opinion though. He is correct when he points out as a party Republicans/conservatives in general should quit advocating government involvement in social issues such as this. In this case however the parents are objecting to an activity taking place in a public school. The easiest way to deal with this is to not use the public schools to make statements like this Day of Silence is trying to make. The school systems stance should be to not care what the sexual orientation of the students and faculty happen to be and to tolerate no preferences or discrimination based on orientation. In all cases any activity disruptive to the mission of the school, education, should not be tolerated. That is really the only fair way to deal with issues like this in a pluralistic society.

Note Mostly Gay people were getting Aids. Facts are Facts! This could indicate that for health reasons, you should not be gay. Feel free to choose for yourself and get aids.

Where do you live exactly? Checkups around my area ran $200+ last time I checked. I know how to remain overall healthy, but that wouldn't mean anything in case of an accident. I understand that as long as you pay even a little bit of $ to a hospital on a bill that it can't be sent to collections. Besides, genetics can play a big role (indeed, in my case they do with very high cholesterol) in overall health long term..meds are not cheap either..

And here's the real kicker. A year or two after I looked into this, the state of MA passed a required health care bill. So if you don't have health care, you pay a fine when tax season rolled around. As a young, SWM, I was pretty upset about it. And I'm not much happier about our current HCR crap.

I don't know about anyone else, but my sarcasm meter was going crazy over that one.
