Two gay men were holding hands while walking home from a nightclub early Sunday morning in Denver when a man attacked the couple, stabbing them multiple times.

“We were just walking and I guess he didn’t like what he saw ... that we were holding hands,” Chris Huizar, 19, told local outlet 9 News on Sunday.

Huizar and his boyfriend, Gabriel Roman, 23, were walking home from a dance club called The Church just after midnight when the two said they heard a man yell ###### ####### before he attacked the couple with a folding knife. Huizar was stabbed in the neck and Roman was stabbed in the hand and back before they were able to escape.

The couple called the police and were taken to the hospital immediately where, according to , Roman received 30 internal stitches and 52 stitches on his hand. The wounds were not life-threatening, Denver police spokesman said.

Clearly a snowflake needs their safe space. How about moving to Russia so they don't melt in the Siberian winter?

pretty sure the guy who stabbed them is a repressed gay man pissed at people for living how he wished he could.

the other thing I was wondering, how does one yell in pound signs? what does" ####### ######!" mean? How are we supposed to know what this guy was angry about? Maybe a spurned lover?

I'm glad they were able to escape the attack. Regardless of anyone's beliefs about sexuality, gender, and morality, no person should ever be assaulted for simply being different.

Reasons why I'm still kind of wary of PDAs even now. Never really know when some fucking psycho might be nearby.

I carry a Paramilitary 2 all the time because everyone should carry a knife as a tool IMO. If I'm out alone with my camera I bring a karambit. If things are really iffy, both. I've known fucking psychos. On the bright side of "there's no bright side", the attacker had no idea how to use a knife. None of the wounds shown were serious, thank goodness, although it doesn't make it right or less terrifying by any means.

Disgustingly, people who are transparently gay are going to get harassed. However, I don't think living in fear of random assault by knife is productive. This is an infuriating case of life-endangering violent ugliness instead of the usual ugliness sometimes with a side of violence. I think we ought to craft our interventions for society around the usual problem and not the edge cases. Folks like Payne will be addressed individually through the criminal justice system.

Stabs ex in the neck and stabs ex-new friends hand and back. ;)

I do live for the detached analysis of people who probably aren't, themselves, at risk.

Well, I'm not gay if that's what you are asking. I'm not condemning anyone for their concern. It's my job to help people with things like that including PTSD proper. I did render this opinion because I think society does facilitate a non-productive response. Bad people are out there, so anticipate attacks and arm yourself or avoid public appearance? Even if productive advice, what does that accomplish with respect to the "bad people" out there? I'd be really happy to pivot to that question if you like. My words might not always be soothing to people at risk, but they are offered with intention to help in a real way.

I live in California and am not allowed to arm myself outside of my home.

Just an FYI it is legal to open carry a knife with no length restrictions in a sheath attached to your waist.
Thanks but I would rather the person who would try to take my life not suffer any anxiety, seeing I'm armed and worrying about his own life. More mercifully, I think, that death come as a big and more certain surprise.

I faced a decision to die or fight and it wasn't by the hand of anyone other than my body. I'm not ready as my children aren't fully "hatched" yet. Close though and then if I've done my part in the world I'll have a less forceful conversation with an old acquaintance.

May you be 104 like the Australian scientist in the news recently before you quit.

A lot of clubs, at least around here, will pat you down before letting you in. I had to walk way back to my friends car after they found my Heretic OTF knife. He was kind enough to give me the option of letting him keep it so I wouldn't have to walk all the way back. I was looking into buying a karambit a while back but lost interest for one reason or another, what kind do you carry and is it as "intuitive" as some people say?

It's a folding Fox with the Emerson Wave. It allows one to deploy the blade while drawing it from a pocket in one motion, or not and just use it as an impact weapon. The finger ring to secure the knife so it doesn't slip allows for non-lethal force. If things unfortunately escalate and your life is in danger then it can be deployed by catching the little hook on the attackers clothing or yours for that matter. I'm way past my clubbing days, which isn't such a bad thing.
