I see the Zalman CNPS 9500 cpu cooler on special today at CUSA, so head on up to my "local" one. But one of my printers had its black cart. die today, so new ink.
Wait....CUSA has a cheapie Canon, the iP6210D, on sale today for $19.99, an $80 markdown as instant savings, no rebate involved.
You can see the printer and price here.
Now, this printer, while a cheapie, is cheaper than a new ink cartridge, and the old printer is over a year old, so what the heck. If they have one, I'll pick it up, too.
I find they have one left in stock and grab it along with the 9500 and go stand in line.
The cashier scans both and the printer scans at $99.99, its before-sale price.
I ask if it's still on sale as I received an email with this printer listed as being on sale at $20. She doesn't know.
I ask if they can access their online ad.......so reluctantly, she goes over to a computer at the customer service desk, plugs in the sku and it comes up at $19.99, $80 instant savings today.
Now she's confused. She calls over the manager. The manager arrives, they converse, and the manager tells me they cannot sell me the printer for that price.
"Why?", I ask.
"It's for deliver only," she, the manager, says.
"It says delivery or below that, in store but check for availability, and since I have one in my hand, you have one available."
"Well, it's not $19.99. It's $49.99 anyway."
""Why is that?"
"It has a $30 rebate. See here?" She is pointing out a rebate link below the printer that is linking to a rebate that was valid for one day, Dec. 25th. Yes, we are now having problems understanding valid dates for rebates.
"No, I believe that rebate has expired.....it was for 12/25, not today. Besides, it says the price is after instant savings, not after instant savings and rebate."
"Let me see." She is now being very short with me and not too courteous.
I now see we are now having problems with reading comprehension and understanding the difference between instant savings and a rebate.
There are now 3 mulling it over. I say the web site has it advertised as $20 after instant savings, but if they're going to have this much of a problem honoring their store's advertisements, just forget the printer and the cooler.
She turns, says I can have it but she's not supposed to sell it that cheap.
WHAT? Despite seeing it on your own website, pulling it up and verifying the price, you're still trying not to sell it to me?
Well, I do take it, if for no other reason than to gall her. I didn't need the printer, but it was cheaper than an ink cartridge.
But the incompetence of a group of people, even with black and white staring them in the face, is just beyond my comprehension.
