Whats with all this praise? That really suprises me.

The whole brother sub-plot was cliche sucked (especially the finale), the movie was slow and Uma Thurman looked as bad as ever.

Mediocre at best, IMHO.

So no one can find him and work out that the other guy in space isn't Jerome. It was kind of a gift to him. He sacrificed himself for the other guy. Very touching film imo. Koing
Actually no, he killed himself because he realized that perfection is unattainable and got depressed. I kept this in mind last time i watched the movie and noticed a few little clues he gives throughout the film. He was planning on killing himself all along and it had nothing to do with Vince.

You think?

Looking back now I see t hose clues also. He got 2nd medal and also took that medal with him to burn with. He did drink a lot also, but I don't think enough to get depressed about it and kill himself.

He did a good favour for Vince and wanted to be I think. But who knows?

Anyone else now?

he was depressed because he never achieved the goal he was striving for. he wanted to be #1 and failed. now that he's crippled, he'll never achieve it. he was supposed to be the one of the top of the line, best genetically conceived human, and he only got 2nd place. also notice when he burns himself, that his silver medal flashes gold. i interpret that as he finally got his gold medal for helping jerome succeed and for climbing up the stairs and everything. i dont see it as a sacrafice though, but thats a good interpertation.

Thanks. The medal turning gold type of colour could have been the fire though? But good explanation anyway so thanks.

Great Movie!

My brief synopsis: Human potential unrealized is a fate worse than death and conversly all glory goes to the person who makes the most of what is bestowed upon him.

yea, it was because of the fire, but notice they focus on just the medal for a couple of seconds while incinerating himself. thats whyi picked up on this. i believe it was intended. jeez, feel like watching it again, need to stay away from this thread.
