I bring you tidings of yet another beta. Mindfuse Games has just announced that they have opened the beta to all comers of this F2P Victorian Steampunk-themed MMORPG.

Mind you, I have very little information on it, aside from it looking something akin to the Golden Compass in a sort of way visually.

Gatheryn touts itself as a "casual-friendly" MMORPG, and it appears they go the route of using minigames in order to advance your character in the realm of skills and/or crafting. It doesn't look like there's anything in the way of PvP here, so assume a PvE-centric world for the time being.

Anyhow, this is likely one I won't be reviewing, as my plate is enormously full at the moment plus work has me busy. If anyone else would like to post their impressions, particularly after they play it, feel free to do so here!

Dang. I am not one who usually complains about graphics but that looks so 1998.

Given the genre, I'd expect a high number of RP people. I'd also hazard a guess that the target market will care less about bleeding edge graphics than the social aspects.

Good luck to them (but probably I won't be playing).

EQ1 had better graphics than that, if those screenies are accurate. Not that graphics is everything, but in this day and age I don't want to see vertices where there should be none.

I'm generally a fan of steampunk, but that game doesn't look particularly interesting at all, just a graphical chatroom with a bunch of mini-games.

growing more and more certain that I'll just bide my time on WoW till the old republic mmo.

It's bad, but it's not nearly as bad as EQ1.

Yeah, probably my fond memories of EQ1 are improving it in retrospect. But those screenies don't look a crapload better to me. Probably it's just the flat texttures.
