I have the XHD2400 picked up at BB last week and I must say it's the best monitor I've ever seen. Pretty pricey though but the Samsung and Acer one I was looking at didn't have all the extra features of this one. I've got it running everything at 1920x1200 and wow its incredibly sharp and plenty bright, colors look great, video looks smooth even from a dvd looks very close to HD because of that chip. I have it hooked up to my 360 and ps3 as well through hdmi and wow it's amazing, 1:1 scaling. I didn't think I would like the glossy screen but I can see how it makes stuff looks sharper. I also love how the buttons are on the side where you just barely move your finger over it and it turns off and on, also the menu is nice. Not really a fan of gateway at all, I hate their customer support but these monitors are a win in my book.

I wanted to bump this thread for anyone thinking of buying this monitor. As you can read, I have had it now for about 18 months and earlier tonight, I started to get green banding/splotching all over the screen. This is both thru the DVI and HDMI ports. Obviously, it's out of warranty and I'm not going to have to get another monitor.

A search online of this problem and, from what I've gathered, it's not all together uncommon. I would warn any/all to look for a 30" monitor that comes w/ a 3-yr warranty, or buy the Gateway from somewhere that offers an extended warranty. Just trying to help out. It just sucks that I had to experience this for y'alls feedback. Bleh.

Good luck though!

eta: I should note, that until today, it's been a wonderful monitor and have loved it...but again, until today. So make sure you get an extended warranty if you go w/ this monitor.

Heh, I had that same problem with my 2185 several years ago. Thankfully it was only a couple months old at the time and they sent me a new one.

Got the same Green thing with pictures

Here's my experience:

Hey everyone,

Pretty sure I read this whole thing from the beginning over the last 1+ year. I was an early adopter Sep. 2007.

Thought I'd document my issue. When I bought it through HSN, I bought their 2-year warrenty and had to use it today. I bought it 11-27-207.

So far customer service has been easy, but probably won't get a new monitor for 2 weeks... no bluray, PS3 or multitasking until then...

To explain the issue is somewhat difficult. There is a BUNCH of green vertical lines and the entire color of the picture is distorted. This is the same on HDMI, DVI and possibly everyother connection. It also does so on Gateway's screens and OSD.

Here are links to pics:

Hope everything goes well for me from here... paid BOOKOO bucks for it back in the day

Beleive it or not... they sent me a check for 1,814.64 (including the tax)

The process went ok and about as timely as one could have hoped for.

I ordered the KDL40XBR7 Sony 40" LCD 1080p with 120hz (retail at $2100, but got it for $1550) and two of Acer's latest 23" 1080p monitors (on sale for $200 each) instead of rebuying the XHD3000 because of lagging issues when using the PS3 (since its not native resolution, no lag when doing the full 1600p with the PC)

I live in the UK and my imported Gateway XHD3000 30" from the states has finally succumbed to the dreaded pixel corruption issues extensively reported on the Internet. I now can't see beyond a 6" inch top to bottom rainbow colored (with white background) pixel corruption on the left hand side. Previous I was able to live with two or three pixels, right hand side, that would disappear after 10 to 15 minutes of warming-up which also started in even the first 12 months of warranty. For the Farmer issue has only just started, ironically a week into upgrading to a HD box.

I have contacted HSN.com but my 12 month warranty has expired and I am awaiting Gateway USA response as Gateway UK no longer exists. But due to my previous contacts with their USA customer support and technical department I am not hopeful of their cooperation in supplying a replacement TFT monitor as they seem to want to wash their hands of any responsibility for this monitors failing hardware.

Has anybody been able to source a original or alternative comparable replacement 30 inch screen from a reputable third party OEM manufacturer or supplier, preferably in the UK or European market? If not I would consider a USA or Taiwanese supplier because looking at the current crop of 30 inch monitors nothing seemed to be close to this monitor with regards to its dual PC display /HD TV credentials even two years after its release. Unless anybody knows that this is not the case with a current or up and coming alternative model am prepared to repair this model at a reasonable cost.

Any arguments for or against repair will be gratefully considered, thanks in advance. :)
