This one's a pretty good deal. It's the Gateway branded version of the Mitsubishi Diamond Pro 2020u:

Computer Y3K

It's $499.99 Plus $45 Shipping. They're in VA (Woot! No tax for us here in Calif).

Here are the specs from gateway:

Specs according to Gateway

It has dual 15Pin VGA inputs, 3 downstream and 2 upstream USB ports, .25 AG Stripe pitch (though mitsu says .25-.27), and Mitsu's Natural Flat tube. It's perfectly flat.

Is it refurbished? It doesn't say so on the page. But the warranty is from the dealer (which dealer, them or their supplier?) not the manufacturer. Has anyone ordered the monitor or have any experience with this company?

Too good to be true. Must be refurbished. These are "computer show merchants" who can't make enough money on the web or in their store so they have to carnival it out around the country. Here today, gone tomorrow. Here is one disclaimer on their rather basic web site:

"ALL sales are considered FINAL and refunds will be authorized ONLY in circumstances deemed essential by the Management of Computer Y3K, Inc. In those cases a re-stock fee of 25% will be charged."

I don't like the sound of that. Beware.

Come on Deal Hounds quit shaking.

I bought one this morning and all of you about scared me out of my chair. Anyway, I called and they are NEW. The CSR was very pleasant. Seemed like a small company feel to the conversation. Seems that they didn't have to many left, in fact more orders than supply. But, they will order more and will ship in a week. They will not bill CC until they ship. So ypu can buy and think about it for a week if you like at this point.

I going to sell my three month old KDS 195TF 19" incher now.

I lived in that area for 10 years. Actually, I have a business trip there next week. I might check them out. I thought about purchasing it and picking it up next week (if they had stock). I'm still debating. We have 5 of these 2020Us in our lab here at work. I actually ordered them last year based on the good reviews. They're very nice monitors. Haven't had a single problem with them.

I wonder how and why this small company can beat everyone on the net with a price this good on a monitor of such high quality. That is the question. And they can get more? Also, the warranty question is a HUGE issue. If they are new, shouldn't the warranty be at least 2 and possibly 3 years from Mitsubishi? Dealers don't warranty these things - manufacturers do!

Well,

I would guess that the release of the warranty liability would equate to a price reduction to the reseller then to me. I'm gonna go on my experience with all my past electronic goodies, except for my ZIP 100 (click of death)drive, that if it'll work well for the first year then chances are that it'll work beyond that point.

Also these look to be one version behind the 2040U, It's like buying any electronic item (ie processors) behind the initial market introduction phase. Also, I couldn't find this monitor on the Gateway site still for sale. I assumed that they have tightened their product line offering to cut inventory costs so they may be liquidating these monitors out of inventory without using their own site to do it to maintain margins.

A one year warranty would be OK with me also considering the price. However, if the reseller is the only one that will warranty this monitor, will they still be in business? Will they be sold and have a new owner? How much will it cost me for them to honor the warranty? What will they cover? How long will it take to fix it and get it back? Who will fix it? CAN they fix it? What they charge to ship it back? There are many questions that arise when you buy something that does not have the standard manufacturers warranty. THEY decide if there is something wrong with it, not you. There are NO RETURNS. Be careful, and finally, ask yourself: "Do I feel lucky."

Sorry to throw cold water on this deal, it may turn out to be a great deal. I just hate to see people get screwed.

I agree with above mentioned about warranty issues, not worth it if there is no support. These days, nothing is built to last.

Dealer warranties suck. You are correct to throw cold water on this. Too many people get that great 70lb deal on their desks only to find that a return trip to the dealer cost $90-100. IF they are still in business.

That's why you guys SHOULD pay $ 499.00 more for this monitor.

But, you do have me in a cold sweat.
