My modest proposal for Gateway

1.)They need to redesign their logos to Red-White-Blue

2.)Start donating Computers to some Non-Profits and other Charitable Organizations

3.)Hit the advertising circuit demonstrating the history and evolution of computing in America

4.)Hire tons of unemployed Customer Service Workers shed by HP/Compaq and put them in Customer Service Centers in various states across the country. Commit to eating the costs

5.)Ask in a National Ad Campaign if Computer Consumers are tired of their calls being transferred overseas. Stress a commitment to keep as much business as possible located stateside and that every call will be answered by a citizen of the country that made the computer/software industry what it is today.

Outcome

Either make a bundle and revive a company that has allowed its market share to be eroded by competitors

Or

Go down in a flame of glory and get-it-over-with
 
Or.... keep firing people to better the bottom line, then sell out to HP/Compaq so they can outmarket share Dell for the time being.
