gateway solo 9550xl harddrive options

Hello... I purchased a gateway 9550xl solo laptop a while back and I've managed to fill the hard drive already. I am planning to expand however it would seem that nobody at gateway can tell me whether the 9550xl can accomodate both 9.5mm and 12.5mm drives. The 9500 is capable of accomodating both sizes of drive and seeing as the 9550 is just an extension of that family, it would seem reasonable that it would be able to as well. Does anybody have experience with this particular laptop that could give me a hand?
