I am a beginner on SCSI. I bought two Gateway 6400 servers. I want to put two Pentium 3 and two SCSI 9.1G HD into one server. The server can't find both HDs after I installed 2nd HD and restart W2K. The screen has the display "No Rom BASICSystem Halted" after the configuation. Then the server halted.
I remember I read the same problem in this forum before. But I can't find that Gateway hardware thread. Can anybody give me some advices?

Ok I work at gateway and here is the only issues that I could find close to what your asking :

ISSUE: When running more than two SCSI hard drives on an Adaptec 2940UW , during installation of Windows 95 the Blue Screen Error- Disk Write Error, Unable to write to disk in drive C:, Data or files may be lost., Press Any Key To Continue.

RESOLUTION:
Install Windows 95 using the following steps.

Start installation of Windows 95 as per CBR
During the installation Windows 95 will ask you to enter your time zone then to install the printer, at that point it will reboot the system.
When it states Starting Windows 95 Press F5 to Enter Safe mode.
The Desktop box, Windows is running in Safe Mode will come up, click OK.
Right Click on My Computer
Click Properties
Click on the Device Manager Tab
Click the plus in front of SCSI Controllers
Highlight The Adaptec Device
Click Properties
Click the Driver Tab
Click Update Driver
Make sure Yes is selected and click next
Click Other Locations
Type A:\win95
Click OK
If the correct disk was inserted it will find an Adaptec controller. Click Finish
Insert Disk msg box will come up. Click OK
On the Copy files box type A:\win95
Click OK
System Settings Have changed box will appear, click Yes to restart your system.
At this point CBR can be followed for the correct loading of Drivers, this will take you to just after the point of deleting the PCI bus and rebooting.

I will look further for you though if I find anything I will post here. I know that it says 95 but could help I hope..

Your advice is helpful. I was told it is maybe due to the same HD ID. I didn't jump the HD ID for 2nd drive. They will be the same ID and conflict. Do you know how to change the HD ID or jump the HD?
Thanks!
