My pastor had a Gateway Profile 3 computer {Pics} but recently it died on him. When you turn the power button on, the fans and hard drive start spinning and the hdd activity light briefly comes on. I don't see anything on the screen and it doesn't sound like the hdd tries to boot into Windows, it will just briefly spin when powered on and then sit idle. The fans and everything stay on the whole time.
Also, the keyboard lights won't light up.
I assumed the motherboard died (video built into motherboard) so I bought one off Ebay from a reputable dealer and just got done installing it and I still have the same problem.
I tested the hard drive and memory out and both work fine. The machine has a 1.4Ghz (I think) Intel Pentium processor and while I don't have a motherboard to test it in, it looks ok.
Any idea on what the problem could be? Because the computer doesn't sound like it's booting I'm thinking it may be a power supply problem. There's an external power adapter that gets plugged in, I'm thinking that may be it. But the computer still starts up (fans, hdd spins) it just won't boot. OTOH it could be an LCD problem... 😕
Any help is appreciated!
