Gateway PC keeps locking up during installation

We have about four Gateway E-3400 towers and they all suck. We have three that are up and running with Windows 2000 prof and they randomly lock up throughout the day. The end users keep complaining and there is nothing much we can do about it since our budget doesnt allow for new PCs.

The other PC, we're did an 'fdisk' and tried to install Win2k on it and it locks up on the "save settings" part. It goes through the copying and auto=detecting our hardware, but locks up at the screen that tells you the last remaining steps left before it completes for its final reboot. I thought maybe it was a windows thing, but i tried installing RH 8.0 and it locked up on the part where I choose to fdisk my PC (either manually or through Druid). I replaced the hard drive with new ones (two different HD), and that still didnt fix the problem. I swapped video cards and that still didnt do a thing. i updated the bios and it still didnt work.

Also, on one of the three PCs that are currently up and running, everytime I go to install drivers for the printer, the computer reboots automatically. I tried three times with each time turning out to be unsuccessful! I am getting very frustatred.

um warranty on them?

any more detail on the situation? power supply inadequate/faulty

no bsod on the reboot? i feel that the power supply is causing this problem because when the computer tries to draw more power than idle, it basically cant get it, and powersupply fails, thus failing the processor
