Hey, I read the review on the P-6831 and was a bit impressed at the performance vs price... so I bought the last one at my Best Buy today.... BUT...
On page two (at the bottom) of the review here they say some people have gotten lucky and gotten the slightly faster T5550 proc vs the T5450 proc... even though their boxes said on the side it was the T5450.
I'm just wondering if there is any way for me to ID the proc before I open the box... the reason of course is the 15% restocking fee if I do open the box and then return the PC because I've got the slower proc.
I tried looking my S/N on the gateway website but they don't list a "shipped cofiguration"... at least from what I can see... and the only option they seem to offer is the "scan PC and we'll tell you what in it" thing.
Any thoughts on this would be great as I'd of course prefer to snag the slightly faster proc.
TK.
