Gateway NV59 - wrong CPU/good deal

Best Buy has this model on sale for $499.

It is listed as having the i3-330M, when in fact it has the i5-430M. Even the Gateway packaging lists it as the i3.

For $499 you get a notebook with the i5 and BD player. Picked one up yesterday, CPU-Z confirms it as having the i5.

The guy at Best Buy knew about the screw up, and they had removed the price/spec card from the display. But they honored the $499 price (it's also on the back page of Sunday's ad)

The keyboard sucks, and I still am not sure I like glossy screens, but it is a nice machine.

I got lucky then, local BB had them in stock at noon on Sunday.

ah, you are right. they were available on bb.com earlier this morning. The guy I bought from at the store yesterday said they had a bunch.

920-738-4537 is the store num. give 'em a shout. PayPal me the cash and say $25 or so for shipping and I can get one today (going there anyways to get a new iPod for the wife)

i drove 30 minutes (in each direction) to pick one up from store 55 a day before the sale started (they were willing to sell it even though saying they aren't allowed to put them out on display until tomorrow). I was surprised about having an i5.. although it doesn't really matter.

the BDrom drive is a POS that can't read any of my verbatim DVDRs... it managed to write one and verify the data, but has had trouble reading it later on as well! It also makes weird noises.

the keyboard doesn't bother me... but the touchpad "buttons" are terrible... also the thing is a fingerprint magnet.

there is a really annoying pitch alternating electronic squeal coming from the laptop... it is really annoying and I think I will return it because of it.
