I can't figure out what's going on. The replacement board worked fine for one day then started exibiting the same symptoms as the original board.

It will turn on, the cpu fan will spin up for a few seconds and the cd drive will read, but then the fan turns off and the screen never comes on. It doesn't appear to POST at all. I have unhooked everything but the screen and it still won't come on. Same symptoms whether on the battery or hooked up to the power adaptor. Battery seems to charge fine.

I don't know if maybe the power adaptor is faulty and is killing the board, or some other faulty component. Thoughts? Suggestions?

Thanks.

Edit: Just checked the power adaptor and it fluctuates between 19.38v and 19.39v. It is rated for 19v but I think that's ok, correct?

I don't think it's the switch because I've tried shorting the power connection at the motherboard with a screwdriver and it turns on, but same symptoms. The only other thing I can think of is a defective lid switch, so that it thinks the lid is always closed. However I can't figure out where the switch actually is.

Anyone? I just ordered an entire replacement bottom portion of the laptop so if one of the components is bad hopefully that fixes the problem, but I'm still worried this one could die too. Could a defective battery kill a mobo?

Shawn, I have the same problem like you had. Please advise what to do. What was the cause of MoBo failure? Will replacement of MB help?

Holy thread revival batman!
Please someone write to Shawn a private message (I do not have permission to do that) to look at my post above.
Thank you.

I have done a few of these and even the larger 17" version does the same thing. The way to check is to open the screen all the way up and then some and push the power button. If it comes on you need to replace the power button cable.

I ended up buying one with a broken screen and swapped out my working screen, Hdd, ram, and blu-ray drive. It is working fine now. Don't know what the problem was. I did also replace the power adapter too though.

Guys, thank you!
Don't know what to do. Already ordered new battery. I'll keep you informed on progress.
