I have a Gateway/Acer NV5807U and I want to buy an automobile adapter (Basically a DC/DC Adapter) The DC Jack is also the industry standard 2.5 X 5.0MM so I have a lot of options out there. I do not need it to charge the battery so my question is this can I use a 12VDC adapter (Without damage to the computer of course) I am only asking this because I see that the battery is rated at 11.1VDC and the OEM AC/DC adapter is 19VDC @ 3.42A (65W) will it work or will it damage the computer?
I am usually pretty good with electronics but when it comes to an expensive computer I want to be sure that it will work with out damage
and I am not planing on powering it directly from the cars DC Socket😱 obviously as it is not 12V more like 9-16V (Depends on if the car is running and the engine speed)
Thanks
