Gateway MSI K7TPro: Getting rid of the gateway part ??????

Can anyone tell me if it is possible to make my Gateway MSIK7TPro a normal K7TPro as far as the Bios goes. Can I just flash a standard K7TPro bios onto it to do this? I already soldered on all the connectors that would come on a standard. I just want to get rid of the Gateway splash screen at startup and have a normal bios menu.

Thanks

Thanks for the idea. I may try it but I am hoping for a yes/no answer with maybe a: I've done it and this is how.

Now why would you want to go and do that? What gives you the right to purchase something from the store and swap out the bios only to return it? Even if you were just doing this to test to see if it works it is still wrong. Why not just ask MSI? I hope you do buy it and I hope that they do not refund your money when you go to return it. Some poor basturd is going to get stuck buying the board you just got done screwing up.

I,m nto going to do that. I was simply being nice to someone who tried to answer my question. And I would never return something I screwed up. And returns are returned to the manufacturer anyway.

in Setup there is a feature called slient boot, disable that & the GW POST screen will go away

<edit> also check here & make sure you have the lastest BIOS <edit>

i have a board from a gateway pc (MS-6312 flex) and was wondering where you got the conectors that you soldered on. i would like to add the ps2 connections for keyboard and mouse.

I got the connectors off of an old MB I bought from Goodwill for 5.00. I didn't have to do any PS/2 stuff. Mostly just pins for the switches and LED's aswell as an additional com port and USB extension connector. Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure all PS/2 conectors have the same pin config on the MB side so you could get one from any old MB.

Hpoe that helps.😀

Can any one tell me what kind of options the traditional K7TPro has in the bios. This Gateway doesn't have anything. Just boot order and drive detect. And I just decided to try flashing it and nothing works. Gateway says I have to have a bios version ending in VW but all I have is numbers. The current version is Ami 2.2. I figured this meant I could just flash the latest Award version 2.4. The pasge sai use the Ami flash utility to flash the new Award bios and it didn't work either. ?????????????????????????????????
