I would like to upgrade a friends computer and am thinking of installing a Gateway motherboard in a non-Gateway case. Will there be and compatability problems by using this board and will I need a special Gateway power supply. I am want to keep costs down since I am paying for the upgrade myself. I was looking at the Intel 440BX PII/PIII/CELERON SDRAM ATX 850MHz+ Gateway board and using the 500mhz cpu that I already have. My friend only has a 166mhz so to him this would be a huge improvement.

Thanks for you help.

It will work. I've done it before. Gateway power supplys are non proprietary and there motherboards will fit into most atx cases. Is the case your going to be putting a aftermarket case? The only way you can run into any problems is if your trying to put the mobo into a different OEM case like a Dell or HP. Good luck.

Thanks, I think the case is an aftermarket mid or fullsized ATX tower, so space won't be an issue.
