Hi, I was wondering, do Gateway monitors have Trinitron tubes? Compgeeks has a special on them.

Thanks, Xtreme11

It depends on the model of the monitor. Some of them do some of them dont. If you get me the Model # i can look it up and tell you.

You are in luck... it is not a trinitron.

It uses an LG (formerly goldstar) shadow mask tube.

Was that sarcasm, or is there something wrong with Trinitron that I didn't know about. Last thing I heard, they still kicked pretty good @ss.

Its a personal preference only. Some like them, others don't.

No.. no sarcasm.

I'm completely serious. You dont want to be getting a Trinitron.

The only advantage offered by the trinitron is the ability to be brighter (remember they were developed over 30 years ago). At high resolutions Trinitrons are fuzzy... (the way that it is made with vertical slits to focus the beams instead of holes causes this). As far as brightness is concerned, i don't think that this is a problem anymore.

And.... there are the two annoying horizontal lines 1/4 and 3/4 way down the screen.

Seriously, if there is one technology that is overrated... it is the trinitron tube.

Heheh, IMO, Shadow Mask is suck! Aperture Grille(Trinintron/Diamondtron) is superior. Those lines are your assurance of quality! :)

It's all personal preference, but for me I'll never choose Shadow Mask over Aperture Grille. In fact my first Aperture Grille was a Gateway 15" monitor! I loved it up until the day it died, but replacing it with a 19" Mitsubishi Diamond Plus 91 has eased my pain somewhat.

My advice: If you haven't really noticed the difference between SM and AG, go to a computer store and check out the differences there.
