Anyone know how to reset a password on a gateway laptop?

find the cmos battery and pull it, if u can get into it, u should be able to reset it otherwise.

Not really sure on a Gateway Laptop. Is this the BIOS or BOOT password? If it is and they use a security chip there is NO easy way around it. I know Dell and IBM Laptops have a chip on the MB that hold the passwords for boot and bios so that pulling the battery will NOT help you at all. plus the battery is a PITA to get too... on most laptops.

But if you can prove ownership and call Gateway they probably have a backdoor password that will work. Call gateway and see what they will do for you.

Dell will do this for the registered owner of a laptop if they prove ownership.

I have a Gateway NE56R with same issue. Trying to remove the BIOS pw.

access the under-panel(s) of the laptop.
-or-
disassemble the chassis to access it.

should be a little flat, circle cell battery, that is attached to a wire, which can be detached and reattached to the laptop motherboard.
