Gateway GT5016E, Intel D945GCZ Motherboard - Heatsink help!?

Hiya, I've tried before to purchase a better BTX heatsink for this computer, but whatever I've tried I was unable to mount in onto the motherboard (I believe the heatsink legs did not match up with the motherboard holes. So, I'm hear to ask for help in figuring this out as I recently upgraded to a Pentium D 945 Processor. The heat seems to be about the same as with the last processor which was a D 820. It idles at around 50ish degree Celsius. I'm not really comfortable with this temperature and would love to get it down some, this is also with using Artic Silver Compound. I've used various tools to identify the motherboard and it is an Intel D945GCZ. I've read some threads in this forum that some people had this board, but I never heard mention of a problem getting a heatsink onto it, so I really would love any help anyone could offer, thanks a million!

Since BTX style cases are setup to be "PASSIVE" Cooled, adding a
different cooler or cooling method will change the air flow the case was
design for.

You could try a different CPU cooler such as a "Artic Freezer 7 Pro"
and removing the fan duct from the intake.

Also, for the cooling method used on BTX cases, the cover needs to be on
to get an accurate reading.

Thanks for the suggestion, I actually had tried that cooler before, off Newegg, but as mentioned, the pins did not line up with the holes in the motherboard, I beleive they fell a bit short of reaching, not long enough... Any more suggestions would be fantastic! Thanks!

Quick question regarding this issue, something I don't know that seems quite simple so hopefully someone will be able to give me a answer... When it comes to the heatsink fitting into the holes (spacing wise) like the length in between the pegs on the heatsink... what do you go by, LGA775 or does BTX have a different standard when it comes to this? Thanks!

So, that would mean, what will fit only correspondes to the fac that it is LGA775? This confuses me... when I had tried the Artic Freezer 7 Pro, it didn't fit... it was not long enough to reach the holes in the motherboard... now I'm really confused.
