Gateway FPD2485W issue

the Eztune that shipped with the monitor gave me issues, so I removed it and downloaded the latest version. Screen was working great, shut off my PC and came back a few days now I'm having issues.

when I first booted up, I got sound when my XP starts, but all I got on the screen was a thin bar of color in the middle, almost like it was compressing what was on the screen. I rebooted XP came up fine. I tried to play Scarface, which worked perfectly. Now it started and the image was only taking up part of the screen, and was cutting off the image at the top and bottom.

exited, removed Eztune and rebooted, then my mouse stopped working, is a Razer Diamondback which I've had issues with, so I shut down the PC and started it up again. mouse lights came on, mouse wasn't responding. I re-added Eztunes, rebooted and it was 16 color and 640x480 and said something about a video card driver problem. So I removed Eztunes, rebooted and re-added. rebooted XP came up fine.

ran Scarface, it compressed the screen to a line right down the middle about an inch thick. I C+A+D'ed out and ran it again, got graphics but it wasn't full screen and was cutting off the image.

removed Eztune, rebooted, mouse wasn't responding again. What the HELL is going on? I have an X800 256, downloading the latest Omega drivers now, was running .229 before.

Anyone have this monitor and had similar problems? I am at my wits end as to what is causing my problems. And I can't for the life of me understand how removing Eztunes causes my mouse to not work *happened 3 times*

Really strange problem, what version of EzTune are you using? There's a new version 1.4 at www.portrait.com, the company that makes EzTune for Gateway. Not sure what the problem is but EzTune uses the EDID of the panel to control the settings, so that might have something to do with it.

Best bet imo is to head over to the 2485 thread at HardForums and direct a question at Darv. He works for PDI and has taken an active role supporting EzTune and the Gateway panels directly.

Running 1.4, I sort of fixed the problem, when I reboot I still get the strip down the middle of the screen, but then it pops into full screen mode and things are okay. Played Scarface and for all the intro/logo movies it did the same strip thing, but once the game started it was normal. I exited and reloaded and it showed them fine *shrug*

my x800 is pretty low end for pushing a screen this big @ native resolution so I think a new card would be my best bet. I will check out that 2485 thread thanks man, would like to read all I can about this monitor.
