Gateway Desktop Memory Upgrade

I'm trying to upgrade memory on my Gateway desktop ?(hxxp://support.gateway.com/s/MOTHERBD/Shared/Upgrade/2511081ui.shtml)

Intel® 82810E chipset Motherboards

Tried two 168-pin 256MB PC133 MT8LSDT3264AG-133B2 RAM

I think the system is not recognizing either of these RAMs, no display after I turn on the desktop. If I try with one of the old 64MB RAMs (MT4LSDT864AG) it turns on but will not recognize the other 256MB. Please let me know what type of RAM do I need and where can I find it?

Thanks in advance!

Since you have an older chipset, I'd suggest you contact the memory company or companies you are willing to use and see what they have that is validated for that chipset. Most should have a memory database or "configurator" to help you also.

If you go to Crucial's website they have one of the "configurators" Yellowbeard is talking about. They even have a little tool that will scan your system and suggest upgrades that would be compatible. Once you know what kind of memory you need to buy you can shop around for the best price.
