Gateway computer & Sound Blaster Live value, no sound, help

hey. my cousin has a new gateway computer (althon 1.4), and it has a SoundBlaster Live Value in it. the computer came delivered with 'digital speakers', that get plugged into the sound card, on the green plug. now the problem, you cant seem to get any sound out the card using regular speakers, or headphones. is there a jumper or software switch that is preventing the unit from producing a 'normal' ouput to a normal set of powered speakers? the green plug is the second on from the game port, and the first plug from the game port does not work with normal powered speakers either. I guess this card is different from the Sound Blaster LIVE value that I own, becuase I have one less plug, and the plug closest to the game port is the one that I use for my speakers or headphones.

suggest you look in the mixer, just above the volume slider there's a + sign. click on it & see if digital output only is checked.

Double click on the speaker Icon in the taskbar. Got to File, Advanced properties. Go to the advanced button undeath main. Uncheck Digital Output Only. Your speakers and headphones should now work.
