hi ive been trying to get my gpu to load up on this new computer i got. its a gateway dx4370g-uw10 ith 12 gigs ram and a amd a6-3620 apu 2.2 ghz. 300 watts. the card im trying to run is a msi n430gt 2 gig ddr3 card. i was able to run it before untill it updated a driver and sine then it hasnt been able to run it at all. i had to mess with it sooo much just to get it to work for the first time.

i will plug the gpu in and get all my connections going. the bios will boot confirm with a beep but ill have no display. i will disconnect the card and it will run fine off mobo. but when i plug in the card and have mobo graphics pluged it, nothing will happen. im just trying to get this card to work and its driving me nuts. any help on the matter would be great.

PS in my bios the graphics controller area of blocked off so i cant set it to pcie

With the MSI card installed, can you see the bios or is it not powering on the display at all?

If you can get the far, how far do you get until the display goes out?

Have you tried removing all the nvidia drivers and then trying the card again?

I hope that helps. Usually if the card won't boot at all, no amount of software change will fix that. If you have the card plugged in, is the computer still sending a signal to the integrated graphics?

What OS are you running?

I wonder if the UEFI BIOS is at work here. Have you changed any of those settings in your BIOS? Or reset the BIOS recently? Retail brands can be tough because they don't always come out and tell you what it is.

i got the computer to start up with the gfx card plugged in but with display running through mobo. but it wont through gfx card. this stuffs annoying haha

EDIT: nvm it booted once and now it wont boot like before. http://forums.anandtech.com/images/smilies/familiar/mad.png

If that PC came pre-installed with Windows 8, then I'm 99.99% certain that secure boot is enabled in the UEFI/BIOS. Since Gateway (Acer) doesn't make available anything online but a generic user guide, I can't tell you exactly what settings need to changed.

I can tell that if secure boot is enabled, you will never be able to install your graphics card (or any other hardware upgrade) until secure boot is disabled. Once it's been disabled and after you've successfully installed your graphics card and Windows 8 drivers it uses, you can then re-enable secure boot to take advantage of the hardware security features it offers.

Why are you wanting to use that card anyway? Are you wanting to use multiple monitors?

Otherwise I doubt it is much stronger than the igp.
