Gateway 7422 vs 4540

i am looking at the 2 of these laptops. what would you guys recomend to me. i plan on using it for daily work and surfing the web. also watching movies and music. sometimes playing games but not to much. batt life is sort of important.

any info is much appreatiated.

If battery life is important go with the 4540. Performance-wise the 7422 should perform better for most tasks, especially anything video related. You also have to keep in mind the weight difference between the machines as well. The 4540 is almost half the weight, which will save your shoulder if you plan on lugging it around alot.
 
i compared alot the last couple weeks, and i ended up going with the 7422gx, and am very happy i did.

better display (brighter and wider), better video card, more power, a full ghz memory, dual layer dvd burner... much better for dvd/apps.. and it plays games very well for a laptop.

the 4540 will have a bit better battery life, but the 7422 runs about 2.5 hours full charge, so that's fine for me, and the weight is no worse than my previous compaq, so that's not really an issue..

the 4540 is about $200 less tho if budget is important..
