Hot off the press. ;)

I've used these firsthand - and I have to say, they are damned nice. Pictures don't do it justice - the TFT is so bloody bright you could use it to navigate by, and DVDs look great. Ghosting is nonexistant, even playing games - and even on an R9200, UT2K4 looks awesome in 16:9. :D

$700, $600, or $300 off!

Details coming in edit.

Edit:

Common to all machines
Windows Media Center 2004

It's almost like they force you to buy the $1099 one. Who wants crappy Intel graphics?

I've been screwed enough by gateway for one week. Maybe by some freak miracle I'll get my X800XT.

Yes we have the card in stock!
No, we dont have it in stock.
Well, I was informed it never was actually in stock.
Meanwhile, ~450$ of customer funds are tied up.
Let's take down the ad.
Let's put the ad back up and charge a little more! ...even though we still dont have it in stock.
<Your order has shipped on 6/9/04> -Gateway's new futuristic ordering system!
<Call csr> Oh Im sorry, looks like your order is in the process of being cancelled.
<Call again> Your order is not cancelled, just on hold.

I still have no clue what the heck is going on.

Never again heh.

I did. I tried to buy one off eBay for over two months, couldn't get anywhere near this price, saw this on Yahoo and jumped on it.

I worked for Gateway for over three years. Some of their products were always made overseas <no one knew it> and they all worked fine. The way I look at it is 1) it's warrantied 2) it has a decent resale value <over what it's selling for today> 3) it does it's job 4) it's gotten good reviews.

Look at it this way. An LCD screen on eBay runs around $370 <plus $40 to ship>, that brings you to $410, add another $400 to that and you get a decent PC with a lot of very cool features.

I looked at it this way. I was ordering two 17" LCD's this week for my new Shuttle. Instead, I'll just get one, use the rest of the money to buy this to put in my bedroom and sell an old PDA to make up the difference. Not too bad for a new PC if you ask me.

Sorry, I got the 610s. I already have a nice "workstation", don't care if it has integrated graphics or not.

What are you going to be using this for? Are you going to put it in your living room to serve as a true media center?

Luckily, I've been afforded the oppurtunity to buy certain things I like... I bought it because it was a steal IMO. I don't know exactly what I will do with it, we'll see. I thought about putting it next to the couch, kinda of like a terminal of sorts, but we'll have to see.
