gateway 600 series problem

Anyone here ever remove one? I have usncrewed everything but it seems that the legacy ports are stuck the chassis. I can lift it up, but it's almost as if the legacy ports are glued or soldered it to the chassis.

I finally got the motherboard out out:)


However, the LCD is very dim. I can just barely see. This computer has been collecting dust for about 1 year. You think the LCD's back light is gone?

Just for background....I took the mobo out so I could change out the dc jack. It cracked and it started shorting the supply. This was a year ago. Fast Forward to today, i finally got a chance to take it out and replace it. Everything boots, but the LCD is dim as hell.

more likely to be an inverter causing the problem. they are a cheap in comparison, easy to replace as well, usually that is why an "lcd is dark" where the picture is barely visible. its possible to check it somehow, like checking the voltages it gives off, if it isnt giving a voltage its bad if i remember right.
