I hope HDTVMan doesn't mind my act of stealing his content HDTVMan

Overall, better than Dell's current offering (2007WFP), which I heard has major problems...

I bought mine back in January from BB. No dead pixels, but there is a buzzing sound from the power supply and a little bit of backlight bleeding on mine...I believe this was a fairly common problem and I don't know if they corrected it with more recent revisions or not, so I'd check that out first. (The bleeding isn't huge and doesn't bother me much, and the buzz goes away when you either bump up the contrast or brightness).

Other than that it's a wonderful LCD. It looks beautiful, good viewing angles and no ghosting whatsoever.

There is a misleading advertising on the Gateway web site, which shows on this post as well.

Almost at the bottom of this post, you can see "Pixel Resolution 1680 x 1050 (native) (75 Hz)".

This monitor does not support 75 Hz at 1680 x 1050.
It only supports 75Hz at some lower resolutions.
At 1680 x 1050, it only supports 60Hz.

You may say that makes no difference and for an LCD, 60 Hz is all you need. You may be right and I am not disputing (or agreeing with) that. All I am saying is that the monitor does not support 75Hz at its native resolution.

I have this monitor and am happy with it.
The only problem is that the warranty is only good for 1 year!

Edit: Customer service is excellent.

I don't know how it compares but the Dell 24" is an awesome monitor. I bought one and really wish I could buy another (but my wife almost killed me over the first one). Go for the bigger monitor if you can afford it.

Well other way of asking is that if Dell and other manufacture can come with software or hardware tap (which may sit between Monitor and computer) to serve as HDCP function? It is hard to belive that most people who is buying tons of the display which comes with $399 Dell, HP and Gateway won't be able to use or upgrade to Vista?

I guess they can still do it, but won't be able to play any HD content using their blueray or hd-dvd. That really sucks.

check this web site out.. great HDCP Fiasco

The buzzing goes away when you turn the brightness up past 80.

As an alternative, you can get the Samsung 215TW that uses the same panel as the Gateway at Costco for $529 and it comes with a 3 year warranty.
