Dad and I went to costco today looking for a notebook. Our neighbor made the mistake of saying he can never beat Costco prices, therefore my dad wont go anywhere else. Anyway, he got the floor model of the Gateway 200XL---1.6M 512, 14.1 XGA. Thats about all this thing has. Its nice, I am on it right now. However, I read that it gets bad battery, only 2 hours. I have just charged the battery full and checked it and it said time remaining was 2 hours and 14 minutes. Whats that about with a centrino? If I were to get one myself I guess I would opt for the larger battery and extra battery.
It does not have video graphics, Intel Shared version. Im not into gaming so I guess that should not be an issue. I had my eye set on the 450xl but its more money. This 200xl was only $1400 with 1.6m, CD-rw/DVD-Rom, 512, 14.1 XGA and XP Pro, from Costco with 1 year warranty. I dont know if I should buy an extended or not. I know Costco is pretty good witht their stuff but the guy told us 6 months.
I will check it out tomorrow and see if I like it. A DVD seemed to play fine but sound was pretty weak. I was looking at the 15.4 models and the screen dont thrill me anymore. This size of 15 seem to be fine.
Thanks for the Advice\
