I have a couple of these old dinosaurs sitting around collecting dust. I opened the case on one of them and noticed it has an ATX style power supply. I have an old 650MHz Athlon on a AK72 mobo and was wondering if anyone knows if it would fit in the old gateway case?

thanks

I would say give it a try. I know the old Gateways used standard parts (baby AT cases/mobos and the same for ATX). The only thing I would look out for is a non standard ATX PS that might fry your board. I had and old Gateway P100 and I put a new baby AT board with a 233MMX in it and it worked fine.

Yes! They do fit.
One of our three PCs here uses the original Gateway G5-233 case we had in 1997.

That one uses an Athlon XP 1800+ on an NF7-S Revision 2.0 system ;).

The motherboard and the 350W PSU fit perfectly into the case, however you WILL need to modify the backpanel I/O thing, because it doesn't pop out :p.

looks like it should work, but the back panel I/O shield looks like it could be a prob. I have a leftover I/O plate from another PC that fits the motherboard, but not sure how to modify the gateway case to make it fit.
any ideas?

thanks
