No, the oil sheiks are either spending all their money propping up western economies by buying overpriced luxury goods produced in third world countries (or sometimes in the western countries), spending all their money buying western businesses, spending all their money buying western sports teams, or investing in their own nations to try and ensure that when the oil runs out, their countries don't end up poor and in a terrible state and requiring the charity of others.

It can, depending on the cause. There are plenty of diseases that take residence in your intestines that can cause diarrhea. It kills young kids all the time in parts of the world without clean water.

The reason PCs are as ubiquitous as they are, is because of Microsoft. If it weren't for MS, there'd be 20 different Apples fighting over single digit market share. Standardizing a system based on the IBM platform is what made modern computing what it is. Even Linux owes it's popularity to MS ;^)

Yeah. The thing that really impressed me was that he does not want the Gates Foundation to exist in perpetuity. He wants to give away his money to the issues that face our world today, not try to guess what the issues will be after he is gone.
