BS. Gates has always maintained that his intention was to give away all of his wealth (over 100 billion save a 21 million dollar trust for his kid's health and education) before he dies. No one &quot;hounded&quot; him into anything.

He's been contributing to education for years.

In 1999 he contributed over 1 billion for scholarships, 4 billion to aid the &quot;information poor&quot; 1.5 million to three charities working to help refugees from Kosovo, and 5 billion to various charities.

In 1998 he contributed another 1 billion to education.

And there are far too many smaller, but EXTREMELY numerous gifts he has made to various charities.
