Some crazy stuff going on. Just a few days ago gas was $2.35 here in the Boston suburbs. Now it's $2.56!

I never saw it go up so fast like that before.

Last weekend I saw two gas stations less than a block from each other... One of them had the price at 2.11, the other was 2.39.

Thanks! None of us other drivers noticed the prices at the pump or the other gas complaint threads already in ATOT's first page.

Yep. Down with automotibles, and everything else that uses oil. Wait, that's everything. Nevermind.

I just want to know if oil/gas has increased in cost for the gas companies and the gas stations in proportion to what the consumer sees.

The only way to "not pay for it" for people that currently have a car is to either drive less or shop around and try to find a cheaper gas station. But that only makes a small difference when the average price goes up, and almost all gas stations raise their prices. So it really comes down to not driving, or at least not driving as much. But that is not something people are willing to do. Maybe long term people will buy more fuel effiecient cars and so overall gas consumption will go down a bit, so prices should theoretically decline as well. But really there is nothing anyone can do in the short term, except for changing their lifestyle (=reducing amount of driving).

2.53 down the street from me. :(

I knew I should have put more than 10 dollars in last week when it was at 2.43.

No. Record breaking profits were made in the first quarter of 2005.

We are paying $1.05 / litre here. Roughly $4.00 a gallon.

You guys get little sympathy.
