Cheapest station here now is $2.84, most of them are all $2.99 now.

Funny, 10 miles away it's $2.76

Vinita is a little over 20 miles away from me.

You are making that same mistake many make of going by the Afton Post Office address.

It's not even in the right county.

Just so happens I was in Vinita today and cheapest station I saw there besides the Walmart gas ($2.78) was $2.88 in the rest of the town.

If you use one of those Wal Mart gift cards, you can get another 3 cents/gallon off the Murphy Oil price, so it was available to you @ $2.759 Did you fill up?

(Note to self, why the fvck do I bother?)

This is a Wal-Mart price - remember, he will not have anything to do with Walmart.
He will pay the extra $0.10-0.15 to prove his point.

Unless someone is actually in his area, all his cherry picking can not be discounted.

I filled up on the turnpike near the Vinita exit today and it was $2.76. Of course gas on the turnpike is always more...but I did see "in town" gas prices of $2.58 as I was driving thru the area.

He lives in a rural area where there is not much choice...so duh it is going to be higher there..... I live just outside of Tulsa and the gas prices here are anywhere from $2.55 to $2.61 depending on where you are in the city.

I just came back from Michigan and the highest I saw gas was $2.89 and that was in a small resort town with one station. Most other places I drove thru it was around $2.50 or so. Lowest I saw it was outside of St. Louis where it was $2.44

You're full of it....I came thru that area just after 4pm today and the prices weren't anywhere near that.

Another example of AT P&Ners think they know it all and don't have the facts.

Seems to me you should just put this in your sig.

This "middle of nowhere" as you out happens to be close to thousands of oil pumps and refineries nearby as well.

Granted the Coffeeyville Refinery was taken out by the flood but all the refineries around Tulsa weren't touched.

Ever hear of Conocco Philips? About an hour ride to their Headquarters and facility.

Littlefields and Little offshore are across the street from each other and both are Conoco Phillips gas. Most of the stations around here are except for two that are Shell.

How come you don't focus on the fact there is no competition or choice?

How much are you getting paid to be a shill?

Most of the active wells you see in your area are for natural gas not oil. I know...my family owns a couple around Grove. There are some oil wells up that direction that are still producing at a decent rate, but most oil wells in that area are marginal producers.

As for the refineries...

For starters ConocoPhillips' HQ is in Houston....they also do not have a refinery "about an hour" from you. Their nearest refinery, they have 19, is in Ponca City which is on the other side of the state.

Do you ever get tired of being wrong?

The refineries in Tulsa, Sunoco and Sinclair, do not make gasoline that is used in Oklahoma. Due to the whole blends of gas thing the gas that is refined in Tulsa isn't used around here. Most of it goes to Chicago and points farther North. In fact most of the product that the Sunoco refinery puts out isn't gasoline at all.

Gas would've easily stayed at over $3/ gallon and close to $4 if not for the gas tax bill discussion in Congress. I hear the radio ads all the time from the oil and gas lobbyist to write/call your Congressmen to stop the new gas windfall tax. The bill has already passed the House and is now in the Senate I believe.

When gas was $3 and higher earlier this year, oil futures were at $62-64 a barrel. When oil futures were trading all summer at above $75-78, gas was $2.60- $2.80. Funny how Congress was/is debating the windfall tax bill and prices fall while the futures are still up.

You won't find anything here less than $2.85 within 20 miles of my house here.

Most are around $3 and have been all summer long.

$2.88 in Vinta yesterday which is 20 miles away.

The cheapest in Vinta was the Murphy/Walmart for 2.78 with Sams card only.

You're so full of shit I doubt anyone can get within 20 miles of you due to the stench.

As usual you totally ignored the posts I made proving you are just pulling numbers out of your ass.

Much of the country is well below $3 - Even CA

It is only the very rural areas that the price is over $3.

For well over 18 months you were proponding the mythical $5 and refused identify a timeline.

Now after the 18 months are up; you are trying to change the measurement stick.

They are laughing all the way to the bank after those record profits.

They got shiny new SUV's speedboats, lavish houses.
They are very happy with the Drive for Five campaign just the way it turned out.

Is standard automobile gas $5 a gallon, Dave?

Maybe you missed the question, Dave:

Is standard automobile gas $5 a gallon?

So Dave cherry picks the highest prices from a rural resort community to prove his point.

Dude, you might as well say that the hamburger prices at ski resorts represent what McDonalds charges.

Interesting that the Wal-Mart nearest you would be the only one in existence that doesn't take a simple Wal-Mart Gift Card for payment, enabling you to get the discount rate.

I guess that doesn't fit your "oh, woe is me" storyline, though, does it?

BTW, where's that $5 a gallon standard automobile gasoline?

Not to back Dave up on the WalMart situation, but over the past 6 months, I have found that some WalMarts will only give the discount if you are using a WalMart Credit card.

In other parts of the country, the gift card will get you the discount.

It seems to be more by geography.

Iowa had the gift card discount
Alabama did not have the discount.
