gas thing on car

how come sometimes when i start my car.. and drive a little, the gas thing keeps going lower and lower till it gets to the bottom and the low fuel light comes on? i just filled it up.. i know i'm not out of gas! someone said something about needing to change the filter? it could be leaking? but then other times when i drive the gas thing reads just fine... anyone know about this?

It sounds like you're having fuel gauge sending unit issues.

Maybe describe the problem in a little more detail? Are you sure you aren't just driving up and down hills? 😛
