When people run 1/4 mile and 0-60 tests, do they typically run them on nearly empty gas tanks? A gallon of fuel weighs over 8 pounds, so I'd imagine you'd see a performance difference between a vehicle with a full tank and one with a nearly empty one. 12 gallons represents about 100 pounds.
I guess the weight of the driver makes a difference, too, when times are measured to the 1/100s of a second.
