Have plastic disposable gloves to avoid getting gas on your hand. Since the previous user was unable to pump correctly and left the handle slimed with gas.

They have this in European Gas stations.

And oddly enough they don't have disposable seat covers for public toilets.

Most gas stations don't have the squegee anymore so no papertowels.

I don't think there's a single gas station around here that doesn't have them. Doesn't do you much good, of course, unless you move here :p
I've also never had this happen to me, either.

Oh wow... go inside and wash your darn hands. I've never had a problem with a pump handle that had gas all over it... how the heck does the gas get from the nozzle onto the handle?

That would annoy the crap out of me. I think I would seriously consider moving if that was the case in my state...

What's the reasoning behind that?

In the old days when i was a kid they actually had a person pump your gas for you. This eliminated you getting your hands gassy smelling.

No reasoning. Not that I'm aware of anyway. I have no problem with it, though. All it means is that when it's cold and raining (9 months out of the year) I get to sit inside the warm comfort of my truck. Works for me.

If they had a restroom i would wash my hands etc etc.

Here is my hypothesis on how gas got on the handle.
A)User open the gas cap and got gas oh his hand and then grabbed the handle.
B) User grabbed handle and a small amount of gas came out of the nozzle when he lifted it and dribble down to the handle, or when he removed after pumping (has happen to me)
