We're here for entertainment, not to give each other handjobs.

Well, occasionally the Venn diagrams overlap...

Notice how NOBODY has suggested it was just a simple, random act of kindness?
Seems unlikely.

The gift giver was almost certainly being pursued by an unstoppable force, so he hid the secrets in the origami crane and passed it to an unsuspecting guardian.

Could simply be a cultural tradition. Were there strings attached?? (When I hand out origami there are strings attached.)

We've had this happen several times from kids and young adults in Japan. They were learning English and would talk to us for practice and then give us the one.

what a preposterous assumption.

But I did suggest that there is a coven of hippies approaching OP's town, which is basically saying the same thing.

Two orthodox kids were blessing strangers with leaves and citrus at the farmers market yesterday. The kicker was that they asked folks if they were Jewish first. If you weren’t Jewish, no leaves and citrus blessings for you. I thought that was a bit rude.

Like, "display this on your dashboard and your car stereo will be safe." Or maybe I'm thinking of gypsies.
