BTW, the price of gas dropped seven cents in the last 36 hours at my nearest station to $2.77.

That picture looks like it was from that southwest crash that happened in Chicago a couple of years ago (killed an 8 year old I think).

As of today, prices in Chicago are around $1.97 (cheapest I've seen in the area).

Gas prices are NOT cheap yet folks!!! We had years of $1.29-$1.59 gas and thats where it NEEDS to be!!!!! It's only $1.99 in Florida now. Thats still expensive. When I can take a $20 bill and fill up, then it'll be cheap.

I predict that the day after Christmas the price of gas will spike over $4 and go well into the $5 and above the beginning of next year. Its only down in price because the Holidays are coming up, no one has been spending any cash, and they know if they didnt drop the price the stores would be losing a shit load of money this year, so again another way for our government to help please the big guys, by giving us false hope gas prices will be down, to a point where they may stay, releasing our grips we have on our wallets, especially the poor and lower middle class that had been using most if not all, of their extra funds just to get to work, and pay for the higher food and milk prices at the store. But it wont last long, the big heads dont like to lose money so Im sure they have it in plan to spike it much higher next round to make up what they lost during this time, and then when they see everyone will pay that large a hit at the pups will keep it there or just keep going further up with the prices till we all say the hell with it, and for a week go no where, not even to work in hopes of telling them we have fugging had it.

ALL IMO of course, I could be wrong, I hope Im wrong, But I tend to look outside the box and considering the time of the year when all the stores get 90% of their profits from is upon us, it just seems strange that out of the blue, there is no "demand" for gas as there was a few months prior, now when people will be driving to stores more often to buy them gifts for the loved ones, needing to use more fuel to get there, vs going from work to home, and shop at the grocery store 1-2 a month if that to save on the fuel bill? I mean come on :p Open the eyes, this is not going to last and I think I will be buying me a few 55 gallon drums, fuel stabilizer bottles, and storing some fuel while the prices dip down for the last time EVER under $2. Every year prior, close to a Holiday the gas prices went upwards, now that we aint spending no more, the stores are shitting in their pants, and gas goes from $4.50 to $1.89, things that make you go hmmmmmmmmm.
:p:p:p

Anyway, back to your regularly scheduled program already in progress......

Well we had 1-2 years of gas that was hovering around $.70 to $.80 back around 2000. I would love for it to go back around that area haha. Though I gave my truck almost a full tank of gas for something ridiculous like $22 - I was psyched :)

Also gas prices are not down for the holidays. It doesn't work that way. The only thing that happens for the holidays (and by that I mean winter) is they change the fuel mixture.

Fuel prices are down because the economy is down. Lucky for me, I don't have any debt (I'm a college student), so this isn't affecting me too much. I still get paid the same amount of money, everything is just cheaper :)

I remember that. My mom lives in GA - she told me she filled up at $0.68 once in 2000, the last time it was so cheap was the 70's before the crisis.

At taht time I was moving down to live with my dad in FL - the cost for us to go up to Athens, GA from miami and back down was like a hundred fifty bucks total.

They're finally launching an investigation into the gas prices in Western, NY. Apparently they're paying attention to the data of how fast prices have gone up when oil goes up, and how fast they go down when oil goes down, and this time, they're scratching their heads wondering why prices still aren't going down anywhere near as quickly as they've gone down in the rest of the nation.

Doesn't NY put more additives in their gas so the prices are typically higher regardless? For a long time, I lived on the NY-PA border and gas was always cheaper in PA (even between gas stations a mere mile from each other). People typically crossed the border just to get gas (and cigarettes... shh). Although, I think the gas prices at said gas stations aren't really better anymore, but if you go a little further into PA, you'll find better prices.

The gas station on the way into work was... I believe 2.23 this morning (Southern-Tier NY). The outrageous part is the fact that mid-tier gas at the station is 2.49 still (which is the grade of gasoline that I use in my car :|). I'm so accustomed to the different grades only being a 10 cent difference.

I remember when gas prices went over a dollar and the signs at the stations could no display the "1" - They simply were not designed for prices that high. I wonder if the modern signs are going to have the reverse problem should the prices drop below a dollar?

Not the day after Christmas, they'll at least wait till beginning of February to start the crank back up and then turn it up crazy again for Memorial Day with that summer blend excuse.
