We know the republicans love to use gas prices against Obama. Another bullet removed from the gun? I'm sure now the president doesn't control gas prices... but of course it was within his control before they started dropping. *Note: No president has direct control over gas prices, just a comment to show more hypocrisy.

Gas prices are expected to decline further and reach near $3 levels.

http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2012/10/20/gasoline-prices/1641935/

Gas prices have remained stubbornly high well past their traditional Memorial Day weekend peak, due largely to supply shortages and refinery woes on the West Coast and Midwest. But with oil inventories rising and production issues ebbing, prices have been easing the past week, a trend likely to accelerate. "This is very much gravity at work,'' Kloza says. "The faster prices soar, the more prone they are to panic sell-offs."

Kloza expects prices to bottom in the $3.30 range. Gasbuddy.com analyst Patrick DeHaan and energy analyst Brian Milne of Telvent DTN see a $3.35 bottom. Barring rising troubles in the Middle East or refinery issues in the U.S., prices could remain in that range through early 2013.

Only because Democrats loved to blame Bush for it

These are probably the same experts who said it would hit $7.

It's always a tit-for-a-tat with you. Has your brain evolved beyond a third grade level?

"Little Matt, you can't do that."

President does not control prices. Policies and intentions influence direction.
Prices in my area have slowly come off the high of Sept caused by the embassy attacks. Dropped 0.15

I blame every President for the U.S. subsidizing the rest of the world with gas prices.

Gas prices are manipulated not factored by market forces such as supply and demand.

That is un-American and should be not allowed under American law period.

They have allowed Standard Oil to get back together under the guise of a Cartel called Global Economy and it's 110% bullshit.

Gas Prices in 2008 (the supposed "baseline"): http://www.treehugger.com/cars/2008-us-gas-price-year-in-review.html

"If the steep slide in pump prices - as well as the decline in the futures market - is any indication of what is to come, voters in several states may see gasoline prices closer to the $3 mark by Election Day than recent highs around $4 a gallon, some analysts say. (Read More: Forget Renewables, We Need Cheap Oil Now-Analyst)

"I suspect that both candidates can guarantee $3 to $3.25 gal gasoline in Ohio after this week's gasoline debacle," said OPIS analyst Tom Kloza. "You will see some sharp retail drops in battleground states like Ohio, Pennsylvania, Florida, Wisconsin, and Nevada in the next few weeks."

A series of U.S. refinery glitches and tight supplies in some regions caused gasoline prices to surge earlier this month to the highest prices since the spring. But the switch to a less expensive winter grade of gasoline, weak refinery demand and increase of supplies in certain areas caused gasoline prices to start coming down. An unexpected increase in U.S. gasoline supplies in the past week could cause pump prices to fall even further.

November RBOB gasoline futures -a key gauge of where retail gas prices are headed-closed at the lowest price since Sept. 24 on Wednesday. Futures are 6 percent lower in just a week's time. The rapid decline in the current session came after the U.S. Energy Information Adminstration reported domestic gasoline supplies rose in the past week, when many analysts had forecast a decline. Meanwhile, gasoline demand over the past four weeks continued decline compared to a year ago.

In the end, supply and demand is causing prices to moderate once again.

The fall in gasoline prices "is not the result of political maneuvering," Kloza said, "but just the normal rebalancing of inventories and the typical autumn sell-off."

You guys blamed Bush, why the fuck not.

If you don't understand why people blamed the president who started wars in the region where we import oil from... I'm just not sure how to make sense of this conversation.

You mean an Obama supporter is deliberately lying by showing a fubared graph? Horrors!!

Except it happens in this forum every day.

No you biased shill moron. It clearly says 1 month I hid nothing. Everyone knows gas has been going up. Was simply showing its been dropping recently. Not everything is a conspiracy. Replace that foil helmet. Clicking one month history to show gas falling is fubar? Is that more or less fubar than ignoring the 4 under Bush?

I want Obama to finally get gas prices back down to the level they were when he took office...like what he finally did to unemployment. Sure, it means we had four sucky years of bad prices (and bad unemployment), but it would be better than him leaving office in a few weeks with it worse than 4 years ago.

What about the rest of the world; the US is to dictate to them what can and can not be done.

We can control only what is within our boundaries; outside those, we can try to influence; threaten, blackmial, etc.

However, such can also be turned around against us.

Partisan goons cannay have it both ways. Price is a reflection of the global economy, or recovery of, if you like. Besides that obvious fact, the real cost of stable supply and price is indeed more than just influenced by policy and thus military spending to which citizens contribute the bulk of their monies. Or in other words the "price at the pump" is a fraction of the price actually spent and yet the typical moran whinges about cents instead of thousands of dollars.

The president doesn't have that much effect on gas prices, you have to be an idiot to think so. Gas is a global commodity set by market forces.

And no one has said Obama is responsible for lowering gas prices, but idiot partisans still (AT conservatives, Fox News and their viewers) blame high gas prices on Obama.

So yes it is fair to call out the other side for it when prices are going lower.

You're right it is a global commodity affected by global market forces however gasoline which is refined from oil can also be caused to rise in price due to legislative stupidity here at home even though it drops in price everywhere else.

For example what recently occurred in California where the state regulations and mandates which have essentially created a closed market for gasoline in California due to the state government requirement of the use and sale of a "special" blend of gas that no other state uses and a sustained trend of increasingly fewer and fewer oil refineries every few decades in the state.

Anyways, it is funny and ironic how some people on this forum foam at the mouth and call oil companies "evil" when they adjust their prices due to local and global market conditions and prices rise. However when prices drop again due to local and global market conditions these same people are pretty much silent and do not characterized these same oil companies as behaving in "good" or "selfless" when they decrease their prices on oil and ultimately gasoline.
