Gas prices fell to around $2.59 here in NYC for regular, but at least its considerably lower than what I "did not" pay over the Summer.

You stole gas?

Err, fingers went faster than my brain. I went to a different state (New Jersey) to fill up on the rare occassion I took my car out.

Average Pump Price Down 23 Cents in Last Two Weeks

In addition to the rise in supply, Lundberg noted that demand fell off as the U.S. summer driving season came to a close and as Americans tried to limit their driving in the face of rising prices.

This is a bullsh1t season made up by the gas companies to have a reason to inflate gas prices as they see fit. It's no different than hallmark making up a new holiday. I drive the same in the summer as I do any time of the year, I don't sit around all winter thinking of where I can drive come summer time.

LOL, because you don't drive more in the summer, no one else does? Demand for gasoline goies way up in warmer months.

What about all the soccer moms taking their kids to school during the school year. Why don't the gas companies make a season for that, I'm sure they can gouge some more money from the consumers. 🙂

a good percentage of parents bus their kids to school. because of zoning most people live within a few miles of the school their kids attend.

guess what parents drive a HELLOFALOT more during summer when there is no school because the kids time has to be occupied. summer camps, sporting events, amusement parks, zoos . . .

way more driving in our household during the summer than winter. but you know i'm not going to say that it applies to everyone just because it applies here.

Okay so there's alittle increase in summer. 🙂
What's the unit of measure?

Thousand of Barrel per day is what it says. Don't know why it's grouped weekly if thats the case. Got it from here. Link under product supplied.

it's the nature of supply and demand but if the oil companies didn't raise their rates in the summer, the demand would be higher.

so oil consumption per barrel only tells half the story. that you have a small increase in gas sold combined with the fact that people are paying higher rates tells you that there is a significant increase in demand.

That's nothing. Around here, when the price of oil goes up, the price of gasoline immediately goes up. As one of the largest suppliers in the region explained (in a newspaper article), the reason the prices go up so quickly is they need to reflect how much it's going to cost to replace the gasoline in the tanks at the gas stations. The gas in those tanks has not actually been paid for until after the consumer fills their tank.

Then, when the price of oil goes down,
"well, the tanks at the station were filled when the price of oil was higher, so we have to wait to lower the price until the 'expensive' gas is used up."

It's unfortunate that very few people understand the incompatibility of the two points of view used by the same company.

You know, it's funny how no one has mentioned all the Chicken Littles who predicted $3.00 a gallon would be the new baseline, and 4-5 bucks a gallon was likely soon.

Conversely, people are looking at $2.30 or whatever and are relatively happy about it.

Not that I give a crap either way, of course.

Good point. Dave, you around? 😛

Gas is below $2 here now, seeing 1.99 and I've heard it is down as low as $1.92 in some areas of the state.

Happier. Not really happy.

I mean, hell. It is kind of a relief after $3+ a gallon prices.

Anywho, I'm just laughing at all the people who spread a lot of FUD.

Seriously, though. If you need help with a workout plan, just ask. I'd be more than glad to help make you a little chicken. 🙂

I bet all those morons that filled up their truck, every pale and old mayonaise jar they had with gas in the wake of katrina when it was 3.05 are really kicking themselves now aren't they?

To late.
Here in NC Natural gas is up over 40% and the power compnay just got ANOTHER 10%+ raise in rates.

Only good thing is everybody seems to be insualting their house and caulking all the leaks up. A lot of lowes have gotton much lower on insulation inventory then last year it seems. Mind you I also bought some to finish the garage and add a little more to the attic.

It's been really warm here so the furnace is off for the time being.

I need to redo the attic insulation tho; it's seriously pathetic.

QFT.

Frankly, I can see an upside to that little burst over the summer. Its really rekindled people's interest in fuel efficient vehicles and increased efficancy. Whether that will be a lasting trend, remains to be seen.

I was actually surprised the other day when I was going to the store and noticed a sign advertising "only" $2.25 per gallon (for regular; $2.45 for the premium I use). I think I put $25 worth of gas (half a tank) in my car about 4-5 weeks ago, so I hadn't really been paying much attention - I haven't been driving much lately. It's good that prices are coming down somewhat though.
