Gas Prices Falling

Oh goody. Just in time for my new job. Employer is still reimbursing at old $0.365/mi even with high gas prices.

Damn, I only get $.34/mile from my cheapass employer.

I've noticed this also. In Northern Virginia, just across the Prince Wm. county line, gas is $1.79 for regular unleaded. Not bad, not bad at all. 🙂

You idiots! Listen to yourselves! Don't you see what is happening to you?! The oil companies have suckered you into the mindset that $2 per gallon prices is now acceptable and the norm. So, they temporarily drop the price to $1.979 and everyone is doing a jig and saying how swell the world is now. The next barrier, a year or two down the road, will be the $3/gal target.
BTW, it's still $2.12/gal here in south Florida.

$0.365 is the IRS rate. Maybe you can convince your boss to go to it.

True! What is it that they say--If you boil a frog very slowly, it will sit in the pot until it dies!

not here, still 1.85, though I did notice some at 1.79 in arkansas friday.

I only get $.22/mile and it's $.3725 this year for the IRS rate.

I basically get soooo much write off's from the difference I don't pay federal taxes. but the .22 sucks either way, I figure I'm out about $16-17k a year on the difference to save about 2k a year in federal taxes.

What is the real Price of Gas?

Remember back in 1980 when the price of Gas first topped $1.00 per Gallon? Since then we have gotten used to Gas being over the magic number, that's why it doesn't hurt as much right? Wrong!

In real (inflation adjusted dollars) gas is actually still cheaper than it was back in 1980!

Even though a gallon of unleaded in the US has shot up 21 cents per gallon recently...

And Gasoline is fast approaching the peak prices seen during both Gulf Wars...

Though many in the press are claiming that gas prices are at an all time high...

When adjusted for inflation, it is clear that gasoline prices are far below the 1981 inflation-adjusted peak of $2.94.

Don't get me wrong here .. I'd still love to be seeing that $1.50 or lower prices but as things go in America prices rise on all kinds of products.

I haven't bother to check here in NYC.

Haven't Drive my car in like two weeks because the gas prices are crazy. My car is on E and the light came on the other day when I was reparking my car.

Anyting around $2 to 2.20 for permium is okay for me.

At it's height, it was around $2.13/gal for 87 Octange

Now it's around $2.05/gal... keep the price drops coming!!!

2.19 is the cheapest in the Los Angeles area. I miss gas prices at 89cents a gallon for a few months around 1997. Those are the days.

It's great. Prices have been falling on the whole around Houston for about a week now. My mid-grade is finally under $2 a gallon again.

Who knows if it'll go back up, though.
