Everytime i see a gas powered golf kart drive around, it seems like when you let off the pedal the engine stops completely and there is no sound. How can the engine stop completely and then be able to start working again when you step back on the pedal? Maybe I have just gone crazy and am making things up when i say you can't hear them when they are stopped but I hope not?

The engine turns off completely when you stop. The gas pedal also starts the engine.

I think you may be confused by the fact that they have keys. The key is just to prevent you from stealing it, it doesn't start the engine. Actually the key doesn't do a very good job of preventing you from stealing it either. Many can be started by just sticking a paper clip or a knife or something in the slot and turning.

Yep, our club house used to leav one out side. Just stomp the peddle and it fires right up.
