So I go out and get my tank refilled today only to find out no propane would come out. Turns out the OPD (overfill prevention device) inside the tank was stuck, it's sort of like a carb float. I fixed it by giving the tank a nice jolt to the concrete 2-3X from different angles, got grill lit, had steaks!. Just an FYI in case anyone runs into this situation.

Has anyone had issues with gas flow when it gets really cold? I've had trouble like 2 winters in a row now (ever since buying a gas grill) where if it's like under maybe 16F, I can't get any gas to come out. I grill year-round regardless of the weather so that was kind of a bummer, especially since both my grill & cooktop both run off propane.

I've had that happen and typically a few good taps to the regulator helps, but sometimes I've had to replace the regulator entirely.

LP boils at -44, and when it gets cold enough it will chill down near the boiling point due to the evaporation. At that point anything you draw out just makes it worse. Up north they will light a paper fire under the tank to get things going, and heat the tank.
If you have a semi-heated space like a garage, keep the tank in there when it gets extremely cold. It will work much better. Just remember to bring it back in after use.

A tub of hot water would work too, no? Just that some people might freak out seeing fire around a propane tank.

that is true. Most of those people won't be above the arctic circle in the dead of winter, trying to get a propane tank to give up some gas :)
