Gas furnace/power outage question

I am redoing some wiring in my house, and I'm curious...Is there any reason I couldn't install a switch box to run my gas furnace's electrical components (thermostat, blower, ect) off of an inverter/battery setup in the event of a power outage?

I noticed it's only on a 15A circuit, so it shouldn't be too hard to find a ~$150 inverter that can sufficiently handle that kind of load (I'm guessing it's probably on the order of 6-8A or 720-960W).

any thoughts?

i think the initial spike off the blower starting might take more than your 6-8 amps.... whatever you set up, match the 15a of the breaker or it might trip your inverter. other than that should work. if you have an newer high efficiency furnace the motors draw alot less because they can run at slower speeds to start off.
