Gas brag thread. Filled up for $0.90/gallon yesterday.

I have spent over $100 just filling up our truck. So to fill both cars for just over $30 is awesome.

Of course it helps to have a credit for $1.00/gallon off, upto 35 gallons. 😉

What's the best price you've paid recently.

$1.65 (after $0.03/gallon discount) the other day. least i've paid since buying this car 6 years ago. at regular price that matches the (previous low) $1.68 i paid feb 28, 2009. i've put on 100,000 miles since then.

What the what?! Gas is getting cheaper, for sure, but its still like 3 bucks a gallon here in SoCal. Where are you with $0.90 gas?

Last I checked on Friday, it was 1.80$ for unleaded. How long will this gas bubble last? From my understanding, foreign oil companies are doing this on purpose to drive all competition out so they can raise prices again. True?

I dunno like $2 a gallon or so ...
its only double what it was when I was a teenager ...

Which, if we followed inflation, makes it about where it should be if we used mode 90s as the baseline ....

For a period in the late 90s gas got extremely cheap. Here throughout most of the 90s it would also hover around $1.25 a gallon then it sunk like a rock, I remember getting it for around 70 cents a gallon in 1999.

Fact is that despite what oil prices should be it dropped like a complete rock in a very short period of time, nearly 50% in a span of 3-4 months, which is pretty crazy.

yea gas was 89-1.09 when I got my license in 98

was great

The thing is most Americans have short attention spans.

I wonder how many are going to go off and buy huge gas guzzlers only to be shocked later when we start seeing gas for $4 a gallon.

Ehh, in IL it never went much below $1 in 99. I was in school at the time, and traveling 80 miles from the dorms to my job every weekend back then ... I rememberr out by Dekalb, IL it was like a dime cheaper than "home" (Wheeling, IL) .

In any case, I miss gas for a buck, but I am OK with gas for $2. Its reasonable.

Can't remember last time I owned something that didn't need premium...

From what I gather right now it's supply & demand along with OPEC. Even though demand has dropped worldwide OPEC is continuing to produce oil at the same level, at least for the next 4 months or so, and oil production has outpaced the demand. Some OPEC members like Iran and Venezula are trying to get production cut while others don't because they will lose market share so it's in a gridlock. In the meantime OPEC is essentially in a price war with the US and they can produce oil cheaper and have stated that they could let oil prices hit rock bottom, at least temporarily, and still be fine.

lots of people have been going out and buying huge trucks. i doubt it gets over $4 a gallon here over the next year. it took 2 years to get back up over $3 from the last time we were this low.

Morons. It will go back up. I'm still rockin' the hybrid with no thoughts of changing vehicles.

Houston Texas area. Our grocery store gives a gas credit upto $1/gallon off depending on how much you spend in a month. Elfenix knows what I'm talking about. 😉

Last time I was in a car that didn't need regular it was my parents 83 Subaru Turbo Wagon. 😛

Ours was definatley not that low. Which side of town were you on?

Hey we just replaced our gas guzzling truck with a newer less gas guzzling truck. :colbert: 14-18 to 16-23.

Sadly my 4cyl 6speed 169hp Malibu only gets 2-3 mpg better than the truck (8cyl 6speed 355hp) doing the same drive. 🙁

I'm pissed it took this long for gas prices to come back down. For how many years did they rip us off? Oil prices were abnormally high for the past decade? Think how many billions they stole from us.

I didn't beat the OP but did get it for $1.149 last week with my $0.80 discount per gallon Kroger discount.

I also saw mention of cheap gas in the late 90's. It dropped to $0.599 per gallon here in Lexington, KY during that time frame and $0.499 per gallon in Corbin, KY (Oil was $10.25 per barrel). I filled up my 14 gallon tank for $7.00.
