Well, I saw a really nice aprtment, however, gas heat is not included. Just to get an idea, how much should gas cost a month for a 700 sq. ft apartment?

Depends where you live...you're profile says alberta, usa.😉

It also depends on how large a building, how old and how well it is insulated, and whether or not you have outside walls or not. It also depends on how efficient the heating system is, if its 'central heating' or a boiler/radiator type. It also depends on whether or not you are paying for your hot water (showers etc.)

For a 900 sqft 2 flat apt. in chicago (ie outside walls on 4 sides as well as the roof above), boiler/radiator heating, not great insulation, it would be from $100-$180 for 4-5 months out of the year, with a programmable thermostat, altho I worked at home so it was turned up most of the time.

This year they are supposedly going to be very expensive, perhaps add another 10-20%.

Definitely worth it in cold winter areas to get the programmable thermostat for $25-$50 so its turned down low when you're at work!
