This is just another example of how market leaders in any industry do not retain their position in the marketplace as time progresses. No one can stay on the top forever and this is especially true in a free market economy.

The desktop I believe will still be a Windows dominated platform for a long time. Of this I have no doubt but its relevance is being eroded as time and technology progress. Other technological mobile platforms which are becoming popular for consumers will not be dominated by Windows and Microsoft understands that this is there achilles heel.
